UN-Headquarters Nairobi, 31st October 2025: H.E. Amb. Nakhumicha Wafula E.G.H., Permanent Representative of Kenya to the UN-Habitat, participated in the Go Blue High-Level Roundtable and Closing Workshop held at the UN Complex in Nairobi. The session marked the successful conclusion of the Go Blue Initiative—a remarkable partnership that has transformed the landscape of Kenya’s coastal development and laid a strong foundation for a sustainable blue economy.
In her remarks, the Permanent Representative underscored that the project stands as a true model of multilevel cooperation—bringing together the European Union, the Government of Kenya, the Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani, and other implementing partners.
She reaffirmed the Government of Kenya’s commitment to the partnership and acknowledged the goodwill and readiness of the coastal counties to sustain the project beyond the donor implementation period. The Go Blue Project is yet another testament to UN-Habitat’s technical support to Member States, and in particular, its collaboration with Kenya in harnessing the potential of the blue economy as a driver of inclusive growth and climate resilience.
