New York, 25th September 2026: H.E. Amb. Nakumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Permanent Representative of Kenya to UN-Habitat, delivered remarks during the Diplomatic Briefing on Adequate Housing for All on the margins of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81).
The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Somalia are the Co-Chairs of the UN-Habitat Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Working Group on Adequate Housing for All (OEWG-H).
Kenya is honoured to have served, alongside France, as former Co-Chair of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Working Group on Adequate Housing for All (OEWG-H). Our leadership is a reflection of longstanding commitment to adequate housing, sustainable urbanization, inclusive cities and the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
Kenya will continue to support efforts to strengthen UN-Habitat as the leading global institution on sustainable urbanization and human settlements, with adequate capacity and predictable resources to fulfil its mandate.
