AMB. NAKHUMICHA AND UN-HABITAT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DISCUSS KENYA’S CENTRAL ROLE IN ADVANCING SUSTAINABLE URBANIZATION

United Nations Headquaters Nairobi, 23 January 2026 : H.E Amb. Nakhumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the UN-Habitat, held a bilateral meeting with Ms. Anacláudia Rossbach  Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) at the United Nations Offices in Nairobi.
During the meeting, they reflected on the strong partnership between UN-Habitat and Kenya, highlighting key milestones achieved in 2025 in advancing sustainable urbanization in the country.
Their discussions also focused on the Midterm Review of the New Urban Agenda, which provided an opportunity to assess progress made and identify areas requiring strengthened implementation. They further exchanged views on deepening the partnership in 2026, including leveraging upcoming global platforms such as the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum. On her part, the Executive Director expressed appreciation for Kenya’s continued cooperation and support as the host country of the programme.
