Nairobi, 13th March 2026: H.E. Amb. Nakhumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the UN-Habitat moderated the High-Level Segment of the PINUA National Stakeholder Engagement Forum held at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.
The Forum brought together key actors in the housing and urban development sector to strengthen engagement, knowledge exchange, and coordination among stakeholders, while also reflecting on the progress and innovations being advanced under the PINUA (Partnership Implementing the New Urban Agenda) project. PINUA is an initiative of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), implemented in collaboration with the Government of Kenya and funded by the European Union.
The discussions featured distinguished participants including H.E. Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o, Governor of Kisumu County and Chairperson of the Land, Housing and Urban Development Committee at the Council of Governors; Ms. Claudia Blodrini, Head of Infrastructure at the European Union; senior officials from the State Department for Housing and Urban Development; and senior leadership from UN-Habitat led by Mr. Oumar Sylla, alongside representatives from civil society and other stakeholders in the built environment.
Importantly, the Forum comes at a timely moment as Kenya prepares to host the Africa Urban Forum in Nairobi in April 2026, reinforcing the country’s growing leadership in advancing sustainable urbanization and the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
