Nairobi, 30th May 2025 – H.E. Rachel Ruto, First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, was the Chief Guest at a special UNHA2 side event titled “Towards Achieving a Sustainable Urban Future Through Accessible Food and Nutrition.” Organized by the Permanent Mission of Kenya to UN-Habitat and held at Farasi Lane Primary School, the event aimed to promote sustainable urban agriculture practices—such as community gardens and vertical farming—to enhance local food production and improve access to nutritious food in urban and peri-urban communities.
The event brought together senior government officials from Ministries responsible for Agriculture, Education, and Urbanization, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from the UN and international organizations, the private sector, and Nairobi City County officials.
