New York, 23rd July: A successful side event on Adequate Housing: A Cornerstone for Sustainable Development was convened on the margins of the High-Level Political Forum in New York. Hosted by UN Habitat and chaired by the ECOSOC President, the dialogue brought together policymakers, UN representatives, civil society leaders, and housing experts for an impactful exchange.The event emphasized housing as both a human right and a strategic lever for achieving the SDGs, particularly Goal 11. Speakers highlighted innovations in financing, governance, and community-driven approaches, while affirming the urgency of addressing housing inequalities exacerbated by global crises.Kenya reaffirmed its commitment to championing adequate housing as a global priority, drawing from its national frameworks and leadership in multilateral platforms.
