KENYA STEPS UP GLOBAL LEADERSHIP ON URBAN CLIMATE RESILIENCE AT COP30

 

 

Belém – Brazil, 15th November 2025 : H.E. Amb. Nakhumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the UN-Habitat, represented the Government at the High-Level Event on Building Climate Resilience with the Urban Poor (BCRUP), held on 15th November on the margins of COP30 in Belém, Brazil.

Kenya and Brazil co-lead BCRUP, a flagship programme championed by H.E. the President and aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) for cities and urban areas.

The meeting concluded with a call for strong, actionable partnerships to deliver transformative impact for the most vulnerable urban populations—locally, regionally, and globally—while mobilizing resources, transferring technology, and building capacity through progressive climate-finance platforms.
