KENYA’S PERMANENT MISSION TO UN-HABITAT ENGAGES IN JOINT ACTION TO SAFEGUARD NAIROBI FROM FLOOD RISKS

Nairobi, 19th March 2026 : The Kenya Permanent Mission to UN-Habitat joined a roundtable on Nairobi’s flood resilience, bringing together diverse stakeholders to advance sustainable urban planning after recent devastating floods.

Discussions underscored shared responsibility in tackling risks, stronger governance to address vulnerabilities, and faster implementation of plans on risk mapping, climate resilience, and community impact.

We reaffirm our commitment to practical, collaborative action that safeguards lives and livelihoods. Resource mobilization remains central, with the Government of Kenya keen to scale solutions that strengthen urban resilience and drive sustainable development.
