In his keynote address, President Ruto emphasized Africa’s proactive role in addressing the global environmental crisis. He highlighted the continent’s leadership in climate ambition and solution development, asserting that Africa is not merely a victim of climate change but a co-architect of global environmental action.
The President urged UNEA to build on the momentum from COP30 by delivering tangible, actionable outcomes that confront the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.
Also in attendance was Her Excellency Ambassador Nakhumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UN-Habitat.
The five-day assembly, held under the theme “Advancing Sustainable Solutions for a Resilient Planet,” concluded with the adoption of a Ministerial Declaration and several key resolutions.
