MASHUJAA DAY CELEBRATIONS 2024, KWALE COUNTY.


Kwale, 20th October 2024 – The Government of Kenya marked Mashujaa Day Celebrations on 20th October 2024. The commemoration led by H. E the President Dr. William Ruto was held in Kwale County National Stadium with a special focus on Boma Yangu achievements of the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP) as part of the Kenya Kwanza manifesto. The commemoration attended by the Permanent Represenattive Amb. Grace Okara marked the end of the ‘Boma Yangu’ week long activities.
In his address, the President noted that the housing program addresses shortages and creates numerous employment opportunities, with Ksh.4.4 billion allocated to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) supplying goods and services under the program. The President also presented a cheque worth Ksh. 720M to Jua Kali Artisans from Kibra in furtherance of the inclusive nature of the Affordable Housing Programme. Mashujaa Day, also known as Heroes’ Day (“mashujaa” is Swahili for “heroes”), is a national day in Kenya, which is observed on 20th October as a public holiday to collectively honor all those who contributed towards the struggle for Kenya’s independence or positively contributed in the post-independence Kenya.
