SANTA COMES EARLY IN MUKURU: 4,500 NEW HOMES HANDED OVER

Nairobi, 19 December 2025 : H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, C.G.H., President of the Republic of Kenya, handed over keys to 4,500 new homeowners at Mukuru Estate, Phase II, Nairobi. The President was accompanied by the Deputy President, Prof. Kithure Kindiki; Hon. Alice Wahome, E.G.H., Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development; Amb. Nakhumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UN-Habitat; and other leaders.

Also present were members of the diplomatic corps in Nairobi.

The President officially opened the New Mukuru Level IV Hospital, Mukuru Fire Station, Mukuru Mall, Mukuru Police Station, and the New Mukuru Primary and Pre-School.

He reiterated that work is in progress on the transformative Affordable Housing Programme, with 240,000 units in various stages of completion countrywide.

The Affordable Housing Programme directly advances Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11) by promoting inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements.

Earlier, the Permanent Representative held a press interview with NTV, during which she reiterated the role of the Mission in championing government policy on housing for all at the United Nations and other multilateral fora.
