KENYA’S AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAMME DRAWS GLOBAL ATTENTION AT WORLD URBAN FORUM IN BAKU

 

Baku, Azerbaijan, 22 May 2026: H.E. Amb. Susan Nakhumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UN-Habitat, participated in the Africa Affordable Housing Compact – Deal Room Investor Roundtable held on the sidelines of the ongoing World Urban Forum.

During the session, Kenya’s Affordable Housing Programme received notable international attention, with discussions focusing on the country’s innovative housing financing model, strong market uptake, and the rapid pace of project delivery.

Amb. Nakhumicha highlighted that Kenya’s Affordable Housing Programme goes beyond the provision of housing units, describing it as a broader socio-economic transformation initiative aimed at improving livelihoods, creating employment opportunities, and supporting inclusive urban development.

The investor session brought together policymakers, development partners, and housing sector stakeholders to exchange experiences and explore investment opportunities aimed at accelerating affordable housing solutions across Africa.
