
Nairobi, 22 May 2026: The Permanent Mission of Kenya to UN-Habitat participated in a cultural workshop organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Kenya at the Kibera Arts District, Nairobi. The event brought together local artists, community members, and invited guests to explore traditional Ukrainian needlework techniques.
The session was led by designer Anatolia, who demonstrated key embroidery patterns and stitching methods rooted in Ukrainian heritage. Participants from Kibera and surrounding creative spaces took part in hands-on practice while also discussing cultural exchange between Ukraine and Kenya.
Representatives from the Embassy of Ukraine in Kenya, led by H.E. Ambassador Tokar Yurii, Ambassador of Ukraine to Kenya, headlined the event, highlighting the importance of cultural diplomacy and community engagement through shared artistic expression.
The workshop also underscored the importance of inclusive cultural initiatives in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities by promoting social inclusion, community participation, and the empowerment of local creative talent within informal settlements
