KENYA MISSION AND NAIROBI COUNTY GOVERNMENT SPEARHEAD PLAN FOR HERITAGE PRESERVATION AND URBAN RENEWAL

Nairobi 10th July 2026 : The Permanent Mission and Nairobi City County Government convened a consultative meeting to explore Nairobi’s heritage assets, including its historic estates, the Nairobi River corridor, and other landmark urban sites. The meeting focused on developing a comprehensive masterplan to guide conservation and regeneration efforts, integrating river restoration with the protection of cultural heritage and historical memory.

Chaired by Amb. Beatrice Karago, Deputy Permanent Representative, the session was attended by senior officials from Nairobi City County Government, led by CEC Heritage Ms. Rosemary Kariuki Machua. The deliberations reaffirmed Nairobi’s commitment to modernize while safeguarding its rich urban legacy.
