New York, 24th September 2026 :On the sidelines of UNGA81, H.E. Amb. Nakumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Permanent Representative of Kenya to UN-Habitat, joined H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, E.G.H., Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, and H.E. François Menguelé, Secretary General of United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), during the official signing of the Host Country Agreement for the establishment of the UCLG Africa Office in Nairobi.
The signing forms part of broader efforts to position Nairobi as a centre of multilateral diplomacy in the Global South.
UN-Habitat and UCLG Africa maintain a strategic partnership that brings together the normative and technical mandate of the United Nations on sustainable urban development with the representative voice and implementation experience of cities and local and regional governments. This cooperation is particularly relevant to advancing the New Urban Agenda, Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11), and the localization of global urban commitments.
