Nairobi, 2nd September 2026: H.E. Amb. Nakhumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Permanent Representative of Kenya to UN‑Habitat, joined colleagues and members of the Bureaux of the UN‑Habitat governing bodies at the UN‑Habitat Global Offices in Nairobi for a Joint Bureau Meeting.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to assess milestones achieved to date and consider the roadmap ahead, including preparations for the second session of the 2026 Executive Board, the third session of the Open‑Ended Intergovernmental Expert Working Group on Adequate Housing for All, and other key activities on UN‑Habitat’s calendar.
As host country, Kenya emphasized the importance of early and coordinated preparations for the UN‑Habitat@50 commemorations in 2027 and the Fourth Open‑Ended Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) for the High‑Level Midterm Review. These milestones offer a timely occasion to take stock of achievements, reaffirm UN‑Habitat’s mandate, and strengthen collective action towards sustainable urban development.
Kenya remains committed to working closely with Member States, the Bureaux, and the Secretariat to advance this shared agenda and ensure impactful delivery of UN‑Habitat’s global mission.
