KENYA, JAPAN AND UN-HABITAT DEEPEN PARTNERSHIP THROUGH DAADAB FLOOD EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROJECT

Nairobi, 24 April 2026 : H.E. Amb. Nakhumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UN‑Habitat, participated in the project kick‑off meeting convened by UN‑Habitat under Japan’s 2025/2026 supplementary budget.

In her remarks, the Permanent Representative underscored the power of multilateral cooperation in delivering practical, people‑centered solutions to complex humanitarian and climate challenges. She conveyed Kenya’s deep appreciation to the Government of Japan for its timely and impactful support to the Flood Emergency Response through Planning and Infrastructure Development Project, aimed at strengthening human security in Daadab Municipality.

Amb. Nakhumicha also expressed gratitude to Ms. Anacláudia Rossbach, Under‑Secretary‑General and Executive Director of UN‑Habitat, for her leadership and continued commitment to translating policy into tangible action, thereby making a meaningful difference in the lives of communities on the ground.
