KENYA–SOMALIA STRENGTHEN COOPERATION ON ADEQUATE HOUSING AND REGIONAL INTEGRATION

Nairobi, 19th August 2026: H.E. Amb. Nakhumicha Wafula, E.G.H., Permanent Representative of Kenya to UN-Habitat, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Kenya. They reflected on the work of the Open-Ended Expert Working Group on Adequate Housing for All. Amb. Nakhumicha shared Kenya’s experience as one of the pioneer Co-Chairs of the Working Group and congratulated Somalia, together with Azerbaijan, as the current Co-Chairs, for the excellent work they are undertaking, including in preparation for the upcoming UNGA 81. They also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest between Kenya and Somalia, including the importance of deepening regional integration and strengthening cooperation within the East African Community (EAC).
