FROM POLICY TO ACTION : KENYA LEADS DIALOGUE ON INCLUSIVE HOUSING, URBAN RESILIENCE AND INVESTMENT AT WUF13

The Kenya Permanent Mission to UN‑Habitat, led by H.E. Amb. Susan Nakhumicha E.G.H, jointly with UN-Habitat and the Ministry of Lands, housing and Urban development held a side event on the sidelines of the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum.

Building on the outcomes of the Second Africa Urban Forum hosted in Nairobi in April 2026, Kenya convened a side event at WUF13 to advance the shift from policy dialogue to practical implementation through bankable projects and investable urban development pipelines.

The event responded to key challenges hindering implementation, including governance and regulatory bottlenecks, infrastructure gaps, weak coordination between national and sub-national planning, and the high cost of urban construction and land. The event demonstrated how integrated planning and multilevel governance can accelerate housing and urban resilience initiatives, share practical tools and lessons from Kenya’s experience in inclusive housing and resilience building, mobilize political and financial support, and promote scalable Public-Private Partnership opportunities for both soft and hard infrastructure development.
